Now lets get back to it as I know it and as it is also on Wikipedia Cannabis sativa is an annual herbaceous plant in the Cannabaceae family. People have cultivated this herb throughout recorded history as a source of industrial fibre, seed oil, food, recreation, religious and spiritual enlightenment, and medicine. Each part of the plant is harvested differently, depending on the purpose of its use.

Common uses

Main articles: Industrial and personal uses of Cannabis, Cannabis (drug), and Hemp

Its seeds are chiefly used to make hempseed oil which can be used for cooking, lamps, lacquers, or paints. They are also used as caged-bird feed, for it is a moderate source of nutrients for most birds. The flowers (and to a lesser extent the leaves, stems, and seeds) contain psychoactive and physiologically active chemical compounds known ascannabinoids that are consumed for recreational, medicinal, and spiritual purposes. When so used, preparations of flowers (marijuana) and leaves and preparations derived from resinous extract (hashish) are consumed by smoking, vaporizing and oral ingestion. Historically, tinctures, teas, and ointments have also been common preparations.

Wild Sorghum grass ( Sorghum vursicolor )

Wild Sorghum grass ( Sorghum vursicolor )

Sorghum_bicolor_northernWildTz
This is among the tallest grasses, reaching up to 2.5-3m high with typical Christmas tree flowers head.
Sorghum is a member of the grass family and originally a wild plant in Africa.
The evolution of sorghum under the pressures of drought and high temperatures imparted the ability to tolerate drought, soil toxicities, and extremes of temperature more effectively to cultivated sorghum plants than other cereals.

Varieties of sorghums are classified into 4 groups:
  1. grain sorghums
  2. grass sorghums or forage Sorghum
  3. Sweet sorghums
  4. Broomcorns
That’s the sorghum varieties, now lets talk a bit about the Wild sorghum;
  • Seeds are sorghum like; hence its name.
  • The grass can be planted and hence very suitable for making hay.
Uses:
  • This is some what interesting but it is true, the seeds’ ashes of this plant is used by local people as  cooking salt.
  • Also birds feed on this plant’s seeds.
  • And more other uses as shown in the image below.
